Wheeling is the county seat of Ohio County in the northern panhandle of the state. Wheeling was the first state capital of West Virginia, and is situated along the Ohio River with part of the city on an island in the middle of the river. The city has a total area of 16.01 square miles, and a population of approx 28,486 people.

Wheeling Fire Department  -  Stations & Apparatus
The Wheeling Fire Department - provides comprehensive emergency, fire prevention and administrative services. These services involve fire suppression, fire safety inspections, fire cause investigation, public education, public service, advanced emergency medical service that includes patient transport, first response to hazardous materials incidents, and specialized rescue service. All first response personnel are nationally certified Emergency Medical Technicians and twenty percent of personnel are nationally registered Paramedics.

The Wheeling Fire Department serves the City of Wheeling from 7 stations with 6 Engines, 1 Ladder, 1 Heavy Rescue, 3 Paramedic Units.
